Blue Eyed Soul
Information – Whilst Paul is best known for being an accomplished singer/songwriter what is little known or documented is his passion and enthusiasm for soul music which has been an influence in his song writing for a number of years.
Recently Paul decided to explore the possibility of putting together a band which would take a selection of contemporary songs and treat them to a soul makeover, with this in mind he hooked up with his long standing friend and accomplished guitarist Paul “Nobby” Newby and the seeds of Blue Eyed Soul was sown.
A promotional video shoot followed and the duo was introduced to professional musician and drummer Neil Aspinall with who the two hit it off straight away and soon after Neil was asked to join the band as its full time drummer.
The band started performing as an acoustic three piece however following a number of successful and well received gigs the band are currently in the process of expanding their numbers with the introduction of bass & keyboards. Progress has been made, and we can announce that the line up is complete. We have added Kev Parry on Bass Guitar.
A selection of songs are currently being recorded and produced by Paul Jackson (Delany Studios) Sunderland for an album release and tour in 2012.
The Set – The Blue Eyed Soul set list is a work in progress but contains a number of covers and original songs written by Paul and Nobby. Currently the set includes the bands interpretation and treatment of songs by the following artists;

Hi there, my first post on Paul’s new site! Just to let folk know I’m Paul’s new drummer in Blue Eyed Soul and we are really looking forward to putting on a great show for his fans old and also new. The band is currently a 4 piece with the intro recently of Kevin Parry on bass and we are all shuttling backwards and forwards from the NW to NE and visa versa to rehearse and hone the set. Dates for the 4 piece will be announced very soon I hope with a string of gigs and shows in the NW of England. In the mean time have a fantastic 2012 as I hope we will, and look forward to seeing you. Neil
Paul and Nobby are visiting the NW this weekend for a couple of days rehearsal and to try out a new keyboard player who we hope will be joining the band. Sunday afternoon will see us perform a semi acoustic show at the Ship Inn in Leyland to try out a few new numbers, so if your in the area or live in the area we’ll be starting at 5pm and performing a couple of sets. We’ve now got a full rehearsal schedule sorted and a full set list to work on so over the next few weeks we will be putting them all together with fresh arrangements and unique touches to set them apart.

What a weekend of rehearsals we just had, the set is now complete and almost ready for road testing.
We tried out the new PA also and it sounds FAT, so things are on a roll.
Still got a lot of work to do to hone everything but it’s exciting times ahead with plans for some showcase events in a month or two.

Just to update you all we have been busy rehearsing and working on an amazing set, Paul is now writing some original material which will be recorded at The Delany Room Studio with producer Paul Jackson over the next few weeks.
